Welcome to Verity Mae Lane
If you’re here, chances are you’re searching for something.
Maybe you’re searching for answers.
Maybe you’re searching for healing.
Maybe you’re searching for words to describe experiences that never quite made sense.
Or maybe you’re simply trying to find your way back to yourself.
I understand.
For many years, I lived inside a story that looked very different from the one I was experiencing behind closed doors. From the outside, everything appeared normal. Inside, I was slowly losing trust in my own thoughts, feelings, instincts, and voice.
I didn’t have language for what was happening.
I didn’t know that abuse could be subtle.
I didn’t know that control could wear a smile.
I didn’t know that a person could be deeply wounded without a single bruise.
This website was born from a desire to tell the truth.
Not a polished version of the truth.
Not a comfortable version of the truth.
Just the truth.
For many years, I did not know I was living in an abusive marriage. How could I not know?!
Through this blog, I will share reflections on healing, faith, rebuilding after loss, healthy relationships, personal growth, and the lessons I’ve learned while finding my way forward.
I will also share pieces of my journey as I write my memoir, The House That Abuse Built, a story about covert abuse, hidden harm, and the difficult but beautiful work of rebuilding a life.
My hope is that this space becomes a place of encouragement and clarity.
A place where survivors feel seen.
A place where questions are welcomed.
A place where healing is possible.
Most of all, I hope this space reminds you of something important:
You are allowed to trust yourself.
You are allowed to tell the truth.
And no matter what has happened in your life, it is never too late to rebuild.
Thank you for being here.
